A supermoon, called perigee by astronomers, is that point or event in a cosmic cycle where the moon is closest to the earth. When the moon is orbitally closer to our planet, the gravitational pull is also stronger, hence, affecting the natural order of things, especially, human beings.

On 14th Nov, 2016 skywatchers across the world celebrated the glorious supermoon .  Meanwhile, Hindu devotees in India celebrated the event by conducting cleansing rituals by the sacred rivers like Narmada. Full moon energy is powerful and intense, which means the vibes you generate during the occasion would be heightened. The lunar energy has been given a high significance in Hindu rituals; it is considered to be a powerful time for meditation, energy healing, and recharging your energy field and chakras.

To Hindus, the Narmada is one of the seven holy rivers of India. It is believed that a dip in any of these seven rivers washes one’s sins away. The pilgrims gathered on the banks of Narmada to light the lamps, perform cleansing ceremonies and begin their 3 years and 3 months long parikrama (circumambulation) across the River Narmada.
